Sue and Settle

The Center for Biological Diversity has paid its four founders over $8.2 million dollars just in the last decade. One of the ways CBD makes money is by suing the taxpayers – they have averaged over 10 cases against government agencies and organizations every year. Their goal? To settle the cases with the government and get massive payouts for CBD – allowing them to increase their own salaries and pay themselves over $1 million every year.

It’s called “sue and settle” and it’s a racket.

The tactic is simple: CBD sues a federal agency for failing to enforce laws or regulations. Agency officials and CBD then come to a private agreement and that deal is ratified by the courts via a binding consent decree.

And the next thing you know, CBD is taking taxpayer dollars away from solving our energy crisis and putting your hard earned money in their pockets.
